The paintings, drawings, and assemblages that Joey Freer makes evoke a feeling of nostalgia and often times ponder into the strange or unusual. Drips, smears, and found objects are a compliment to the dark nature of an upside down human or a bedspring protruding out of the canvas. Simply getting outside of oneself and sincerity is what triggers the content within Freer’s works.
Joey Freer grew up in the small town of Marysville Washington but he now resides in Olympia. He studied Fine art at The Evergreen College and earned his Bachelors Degree in 2004. Since then he has been working for the Washington State Department of Printing, while creating after work and on the weekends.
